When you hear the word "hypnosis," do you think of the old "you are getting very sleepy" trance-like kind you may have seen portrayed in a movie or on TV?
When it comes to hypnosis for weight loss, self-hypnosis or NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), this stereotype couldn't be further from the truth. And best of all, incorporating this program into your life is easy and requires a minimum amount of time on your part.
Sound like magic? It's not (though sometimes it works that way!). Its goal is to change a behavior through the sheer power of suggestion. When you're in a hypnotic state, you can easily make positive changes because your self-conscious mind is more open to suggestions for change. To really understand why and how that is so, it's important to understand some things about how your mind works. That 88% of your mind is what dictates everything you do, say, think and feel! Sometimes a thought or idea might "pop up." It doesn't come out of nowhere. It "pops up" because your subconscious mind has already processed it. While you are awake, your conscious mind, made aware of thoughts, feelings and ideas by your subconscious mind, makes all sorts of evaluations and decisions based on pre-conceived beliefs embedded in your subconscious mind.
What does all of this mean for you and for your weight loss goals? A lot, actually. For instance, if your subconscious mind believes that you are an overweight person who is destined to have little will power and fight with food forever. If you believe that pizza is good and delicious and something you need to fight mightily to avoid, that is exactly what it will always be.Try as you might to use your conscious mind to alter or eradicate that thought, nothing changes. Nothing at all. It's not enough to just want to change. Even if you believe you are someone with great will power, you still won't find that this is a permanent solution.
Until the underlying thought or belief in your subconscious mind is changed, your ongoing patterns will run your life. Change the subconscious thoughts and then you will change your life. And that's the great news here: using hypnosis, you CAN change or “re-wire” your brain and your subconscious mind. You can replace your deep-seated negative thoughts with thoughts that will lead to the behaviors, actions and results you desire.
